This is the flagship brand of Habanos. It rapidly achieved mythical status since it’s creation in 1966. For non-other than Fidel Castro himself. Originally it was only seen outside Cuba as gifts for important dignitaries and diplomats. Finally in 1982 it was launched to the world in limited quantities.

When Columbus first arrived, he saw the native Taino Indians smoking tobacco leaves in bunches, that they referred to as “cohibas”, hence the name. Cohiba cigars are made with a blend of the finest leaves from region Vuelta Abajo. Uniquely two of it’s filler leaves undergo a third fermentation

This brand founded in 1996 has adopted the unique strategy of limiting itself to a singular format, the Figurado, which is tapered at each end. This style was once popular at the end of the 19th century but had all but disappeared by the 1930s. Cuaba is a Taino Indian word that was used to refer to a highly combustible bush that they used to light their “cohibas”
